Montrose senior suffers serious injuries during dog attack

On Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:31 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers received a report about a 73-year-old Montrose man who had been seriously injured by a dog in the 700 block of 11th Avenue, in Montrose, BC.
The man was walking outside on the street near his residence when a loose dog allegedly charged and attacked him. The man fought the dog off with his cane but received injuries to his hand, leg, and head during the incident.
The dog was secured by one of the owner’s family members who arrived on scene shortly after the attack. An officer spoke to the owner who believed the dog may have escaped the yard after a gate was insecure.
The matter has been referred to the SPCA Animal Protection Officer.
“There are no criminal charges in this case; however, we do advise using caution walking outside on this street after this incident at this time,” says Sgt. Wicentowich.
Oliver man arrested for prohibited, impaired driving, damages police vehicle

On Friday, October 17, 2025, at 8:27 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about a 27-year-old Oliver man allegedly driving his vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the 1800 block of Highway 3B, in Fruitvale, BC. Officers conducted patrols and located the man and his vehicle.
The officers approached the vehicle on foot and located the man seated in the front passenger seat. Officers beleived that the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle may be impaired by a alcohol. A demand was read to the man who declined to provide a breath sample. Additionally, the man was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle in BC.
The officers arrested the man when he became aggressive. Once secured inside the police vehicle, the man allegedly kicked the doors of the police vehicle and caused damage to the police car
He was held in custody and released when sober.
The 27-year-old Oliver man was issued a 90 day Immediate Driving Prohibition under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was impounded for up to 30 days.
“The investigation into criminal charges regarding this incident continues,” says. Sgt. Wicentowich.
Window smashed in downtown Trail.

On Friday, October 17, 2025, at 8:46 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about man breaking a window of a government office in the 1500 block of Bay Avenue, in Trail, BC.
“We are asking the public to report on anyone vandalising property in the Trail area as the investigation is ongoing. We suspect this kind of aggressive window smashing may continue until the perpetrator is caught,” says Sgt. Wicentowich.
