RCMP investigating death; seeking public’s help

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is asking the public for assistance with an investigation into the death of a person last week in Vernon.
At approximately 8:45 p.m., on Thursday, April 9th, 2026, police responded to a report that a deceased person was found inside the Vernon Winter Carnival Office at 3401 35th Ave in Vernon.
“A determination of criminality has not been made at this time,” states Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP. “The circumstances surrounding the person’s death are considered suspicious in nature and we are reaching out to the public for information that may help advance our investigation.”
Investigators are requesting dash cam footage from any motorists who travelled along 35th Ave between 33rd St and 35th St between 11:00am and 9 p.m., on Thursday, April 9th. Footage captured in that area at that time may be valuable to the investigation. Anyone with video is asked to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171 and reference file #2026-5597.
