The West Kelowna RCMP’s Proactive Enforcement Teams, including the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), Drug Section, and Traffic Section, recently concluded Project Deadbolt, a targeted enforcement operation focused on disrupting violent and drug-related crime in the City of West Kelowna.

The project, supported and funded through the BC Government’s Safer Communities through Targeted Enforcement (S.I.T.E.) program, aimed to enhance public safety by targeting repeat offenders and disrupting crime cycles.

Over the course of the initiative, officers made significant progress in removing dangerous individuals and illegal items from the streets. The results included:

  • Approximately 50 individuals arrested, including one ReVOII-designated offender (repeat violent offending intervention initiative);
  • Over 500 grams of illegal drugs seized, including suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine;
  • More than $30,000 in property seized, including over $10,000 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime;
  • Dozens of weapons seized, including a loaded handgun;
  • Four stolen vehicles recovered;
  • Three individuals arrested on previously outstanding warrants.

“Project Deadbolt demonstrates the ongoing commitment of our detachment to target those responsible for violent and drug-related offences that harm our community,” said Staff Sergeant Brendan Dolan, West Kelowna RCMP. “This type of coordinated enforcement sends a strong message that criminal activity will not be tolerated in West Kelowna.”

The West Kelowna RCMP would like to thank the BC Government and the S.I.T.E. program for their support in helping fund targeted operations such as Project Deadbolt. Collaborative efforts like these continue to play a crucial role in improving community safety and reducing organized and repeat criminal activity across the region.

Anyone with information related to drug or violent crime in West Kelowna is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 1-250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
