Police seize firearm, drugs and prohibited weapon during traffic stop, driver arrested

On the evening of August 17, 2025, a West Shore RCMP Frontline officer conducting a routine patrol conducted a traffic stop with a GMC Yukon as the taillight was burnt out.
Inside the vehicle the officer observed open liquor, an impaired driving investigation was pursued. In a search of the vehicle, officers seized a small amount of suspected oxycontin pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a firearm, and brass knuckles.
The driver who is identified as a 50-year-old man was determined to be sober. However, he was arrested in relation to drug trafficking, unauthorized possession of the firearm, and a prohibited weapon. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect was later released on an Undertaking with an upcoming court appearance.
