On August 3, 2025, at approximately 4:10 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a serious collision near the 2900-block of Sooke Road in Langford.
The collision involved a grey 2008 Hyundai Elantra and a white 2019 Toyota Avalon. Witnesses reported that the Hyundai was travelling westbound when it crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic and collided with the Toyota Avalon.
Despite life-saving efforts, the driver of the Hyundai, a 34-year-old woman, tragically died at the scene. West Shore RCMP extends its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
The driver and passenger of the Toyota Avalon were transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Sooke Road was closed in both directions between Humpback Road and West Shore Parkway for several hours while emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene. The road was re-opened at approximately 8:00 p.m.
The collision remains under investigation. Officers have spoken to multiple witnesses and are asking anyone with dash camera footage who was driving on Sooke Road between Jacklin Avenue and the 2900-block of Sooke Road between 3:50 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. to review their footage. Investigators are particularly interested in any video that may show the Hyundai Elantra travelling westbound prior to the crash. If you have dash camera footage that can assist police please call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
