Sooke Rd closed as police investigate serious collision

UPDATE: - Thank you for your patience as first responders worked the scene, Sooke Rd is now open in both directions as of approximately 3:30 p.m.
On January 27, 2026, at approximately 1:20 p.m. West Shore RCMP responded of a report of a serious collision involving 2 vehicles on Sooke Rd just before Kangaroo Rd in Metchosin.
The 4100 block of Sooke Rd has been shut down in both directions as emergency personnel attend the scene. The road will be shut down for a number of hours as police conduct the investigation. Kangaroo Rd remains open as an alternative for motorists heading to and from the West Shore.
The collision has resulted in serious life-threatening injuries and a collision reconstructionist has been called to attend the scene.
