Highway partially shutdown as police investigate collision resulting in serious injuries

On May 8, 2026, at approximately 12:26 a.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a serious collision involving two vehicles, a 2000 Subaru Outback and a 2012 Cadillac SRX. The collision occurred on the Trans Canada Highway near Finlayson Arm Rd.
While the details surrounding the collision are still under investigation, the driver of the Cadillac was displaying signs and symptoms of suspected impairment, and an impaired driving investigation is underway.
The collision resulted in serious life-threatening injuries to the driver of the Subaru who was taken to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services for care. The driver of the Cadillac was also taken to the hospital for injuries.
The RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service was called out. The northbound lanes of the Trans Canada Highway between West Shore Parkway and Aspen Rd were shut down from approximately 12:30 a.m. to 7:10 a.m..
As this matter is under investigations no further details are available at this time.
