On June 20, 2026 just after 10:00 p.m. the Sea to Sky RCMP (Squamish Detachment) received notification of an overdue private airplane that departed from the Squamish Airport and failed to return.

The Sea to Sky RCMP took initial steps to locate the plane and were assisted by Whistler and Squamish Search and Rescue teams and CFB Comox 442 Squadron. The missing plane was subsequently located in the Brandywine Valley. The occupants of the plane were located and transported to hospital with serious injuries.
