Whistler RCMP wants you to keep the pace, share the space and protect your face

It’s summer time in Whistler! With the arrival of the busy summer season, the Resort Municipality of Whistler sees a notable increase in bicycle use throughout the community, particularly on roadways and the Valley Trail network. 

As bicycle traffic volumes grow, so too does the importance of ensuring all users travel safely and responsibly. The Sea to Sky RCMP (Whistler Detachment) has seen an increase in reports from the community expressing concerns about e-bike use, including excessive speeds, unsafe riding behaviours, lack of helmet use by some riders and failure to comply with Motor Vehicle Act requirements when operating on roadways.

In response to these safety concerns, the Sea to Sky RCMP (Whistler Detachment) will be conducting proactive safety education and enforcement efforts in the coming weeks in collaboration with the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s Bylaw team. These efforts will focus on safe e-bike operation and Motor Vehicle Act compliance, with the goal of promoting a safer shared environment for both e-bike riders and pedestrians on the roadway and Valley Trail network.

The Sea to Sky RCMP encourages all bicycle and e-bike users to ride safely, obey traffic laws, and share pathways responsibly to ensure a safe environment for everyone travelling throughout the community.
