Lundar / Ashern RCMP investigating Aggravated Assault on child

On January 5, 2025, at 3:05 am, Lundar / Ashern RCMP received an assistance request from EMS on a report of an unconscious 16-month-old male child at a home located in Lake Manitoba First Nation.
Officers responded to the scene and were advised that the child was suffering from severe injuries consistent with being assaulted.
A 19-year-old female from Lake Manitoba First Nation, the child’s mother, was arrested on scene and remains in police custody.
The child was transported to hospital in Winnipeg where he has since been upgraded to stable condition.
The accused will not be identified as a means of protecting the identity of the victim.
Lundar / Ashern RCMP, along with assistance from RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.
