Selkirk RCMP respond to house fire and make arrest

On February 22, 2025, at approximately 9:15 pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a house fire on McLean Avenue in Selkirk.
When officers arrived, Selkirk Fire Department and Emergency Personnel were already on scene and the home was fully engulfed.
The home-owner, a 37-year-old female was outside the residence and not physically injured but was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The only occupants inside the residence at the time of the blaze were the owners two dogs and three cats.
Through their initial investigation, RCMP discovered the female had intentionally set the fire.
The 37-year-old female was later arrested and charged with; Arson, Injure or Endanger Other Animals, and Causing Animals Unnecessary Suffering, after she was released from hospital.
She was remanded until a court date this week.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner and Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
