Selkirk RCMP respond to a fatal collision involving motorcycle

On April 26, 2025, at approximately 4:00 pm, Selkirk RCMP attended a motor vehicle collision on Highway 9 near Mitchell Bay in the Rural municipality of St Andrews.
A motorcycle travelling south on Highway 9 collided with a 3-ton truck that was turning westbound onto Mitchell Bay.
The 30-year-old driver of the motorcycle from Winnipeg, was pronounced deceased on scene.
Highway 9 was closed to both north and southbound traffic for a couple of hours due to the collision.
The 67-year-old driver of the 3-ton truck had his licence suspended under the Highway Traffic Act. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision.
The Selkirk RCMP along with the RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
