Berens River RCMP arrest 2 youths after discharging a handgun

On June 7, 2025, at 7:30 pm, Berens River RCMP attended a residence in the community after receiving a report of shots fired by two unknown males.
Officers attended immediately and learned that two males came to the residence, with one firing the gun at one of the residents but missed. The suspects left the property in a pickup truck. Further investigation led officers to another residence in Berens River where they found the two males hiding in a bedroom with a loaded Glock handgun in their possession.
The two youths were charged and remanded in custody where they remain. They have been charged for:
Youth #1
- Unsafe storage of firearm
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence/registration
- Discharge firearm with intent
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorised
- Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorisation
- Identify fraud
- Fail to Comply with Release Order x 5
This youth has also been previously charged for incidents in Long Plain First Nations stemming from January 2 and February 9, 2025. These charges are:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
- Carry Concealed Weapon x 2
- Resist Arrest
- Identity Fraud
- Fail to Comply with Release Order x 3

- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence/registration
- Discharge firearm with intent
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Pointing a firearm
- Unauthorised possession of a firearm
