RCMP respond to fatal collision on Highway 59

On May 31, 2025, at approximately 5:00 pm, Selkirk and Oakbank RCMP attended to a single vehicle collision on Highway 59 at Birds Hill Road in the Rural Municipality of East St Paul.

A vehicle was observed driving erratically going south on Highway 59 when it lost control in the turn at that intersection. The vehicle jumped the median and collided with the light standard. Both occupants were extracted from the vehicle.

The driver, 31-year-old male from Winnipeg, was transported by STARS to hospital in critical condition but stable.

The passenger, 39-year-old male from Winnipeg, died at the scene.

Selkirk RCMP and the RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
