On June 23, 2025, at approximately 11:15 am, Treherne RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) on highway 244, in the RM of Treherne.
Officers arrived on scene and discovered a semi-truck on the shoulder facing northbound, and the UTV laying in the ditch on the west side of the road.
The initial investigation determined the UTV, being driven by a teenage boy, with a male youth passenger was headed north on highway 244, when a semi-truck moved into the passing lane to pass the slow moving UTV.
The UTV made a sudden turn across the road in front of the semi-truck, when it was struck by the semi near Road 41 North.
Neither youth was wearing a seat belt or a helmet.
The driver of the UTV was transported by STARS to hospital in critical condition, while the other youth was taken to hospital by EMS in serious, but non-life-threatening condition. Their conditions have since been upgraded to stable.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, and alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the collision.
Treherne RCMP, along with the Criminal Collision Investigation Team and Traffic Analyst continue to investigate.
