Stonewall and Gimli RCMP make arrest after several thefts’ reports

On July 17, 2025, at 11:25 am, Stonewall RCMP received a report of a stolen off-road vehicle (ORV) in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood.
Through investigation, officers learned the suspect used the stolen ORV to travel to a property in the Rural Municipality of Armstrong, where several valuable items were stolen from there, before driving the stolen ORV to a business on Road 231 in Fraserwood, where grocery items were stolen.
With assistance from the public, police were able to locate the stolen ORV and apprehend the suspect, without incident, at a different business on Road 231 in Fraserwood.
Russel Mitchell, 47, of Winnipeg, was arrested and charged with Possession of Property obtained by Crime, Break and Enter, Theft, and Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order x 2. He has been remanded into custody.
The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance and quickly providing information to officers which led to his arrest.
