Update: Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services investigating serious assault in Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation

Update: On October 3, 2025, a 16-year-old male from Dauphin turned himself in at the Swan River Detachment.  He was arrested for Aggravated assault and released on an Undertaking to appear at the Swan River Provincial Court on a pending court date.

On October 9, 2025, RCMP officers from Swan River and Major Crime Services arrested a 14-year-old male and an 18-year-old male, Zakari Kematch, both from Swan River, for Aggravated assault. They were both remanded into custody.

On October 2, 2025, at approximately 2:00 am, Swan River RCMP were notified of a possible assault on a property on Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation.

Officers attended and located a 53-year-old male who had been seriously injured on a nearby roadway. 

He was transported by police to the local hospital, and then later transferred to Winnipeg where he remains in critical condition. 

On October 6, 2025, Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services took carriage of the investigation.
