On December 19, 2025, at 1:10 pm, The Pas RCMP responded to an armed robbery in progress at a bank located in The Pas.
Information provided to police was that a male suspect had entered the bank, displayed a firearm and demanded money from the teller.
The teller noted that the firearm being held was clearly a fake and refused to provide any money to the suspect and then called police.
Officers, who were near the bank when the call came in, responded and confronted the suspect who had just entered the vestibule.
The 38-year-old male suspect was placed under arrest and refused to comply with the officers demands. After a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Norman Castel, 38, of Mathias Colomb Cree Nation, was charged with Robbery and Fail to comply with a probation order and subsequently released for court scheduled for January 19, 2026, in The Pas.
The Pas RCMP continue to investigate.
