Manitoba RCMP continue to advise motorists to be cautious when travelling due to poor driving conditions and low visibility.

This includes the Trans-Canada Highway between Portage la Prairie and Headingley, which remains closed at this time following a number of collisions – including two multi-vehicle collisions west of Portage, near Oakville, that occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. Collisions occurred in this area in both eastbound and westbound lanes.

At least five vehicles were involved in one of those collisions, including an RCMP vehicle.

RCMP and EMS crews have been ferrying individuals to the hospital. However, no serious injuries are believed to have occurred.

At last report, road conditions were continuing to deteriorate. Motorists heading out on the highway are encouraged to reconsider until conditions improve. RCMP are working with local fire and ambulance services and tow-truck providers at the scenes.

Current highway conditions and updates are available by calling 511 or viewing online at www.manitoba511.ca.
