Dauphin RCMP arrest man after several windows, vehicles smashed with weapon

On Jan. 28, at approximately 4:25 a.m., RCMP were called to 1st Avenue NW in Dauphin after a male was seen smashing building windows and vehicles with a weapon.

Dauphin RCMP located a male holding a large pipe and wearing only socks and underwear. After the male refused repeated demands to drop the pipe, officers deployed a conducted energy weapon which was effective and allowed police to safely take the male into custody.

The male was subsequently escorted and admitted to hospital for treatment of exposure-related injuries.

A 30-year-old male faces charges of:

  • Mischief under $5,000;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
  • Resisting a peace officer.

As the charges are not yet sworn, the individual’s name cannot be released.
