A 16-year-old from Oromocto First Nation, N.B., has been arrested following traffic-related offences in Oromocto, N.B.
On January 10, 2025, at approximately 8:40 a.m., members of the Oromocto RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle driving dangerously on a school property on Mackenzie Drive, while students were outside.
As police approached the vehicle with their emergency equipment activated, the driver, known to police, fled from police at a high rate of speed.
A short time later, with information received from the community, police found the vehicle abandoned on Mahsos Street in Oromocto First Nation. It was determined that the vehicle had been stolen.
Shortly after, a 16-year-old youth, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested on First Street without incident. The youth was released on conditions pending a future court appearance.
The investigation is ongoing.
