RCMP arrest six individuals following drug investigation

The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested six individuals following a drug investigation in the community of Oromocto First Nation, N.B.

On January 9, 2025, the Oromocto RCMP began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in the community. 

On January 16, 2025, at approximately 5 a.m., members of the Oromocto RCMP and the New Brunswick RCMP’s Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at residence on Waasis Road in the community of Oromocto First Nation. During the search, police seized quantities of what are believed to be cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription medication, drug paraphernalia, and cash. Five individuals were arrested at the scene without incident:

•    A 48-year-old woman from Oromocto First Nation, N.B.
•    A 47-year-old man from Burton, N.B.
•    A 34-year-old woman from Oromocto First Nation, N.B.
•    A 38-year-old man from Geary, N.B.
•    A 40-year-old man from Oromocto, N.B.

A short time later, a 40-year-old man from Oromocto First Nation, N.B., was also arrested without incident in connection with the investigation at a residence on Moccasin Lane, in the same community. 

The 47-year-old man from Burton and the 40-year-old man from Oromocto First Nation remain in custody on unrelated matters. The 48-year-old woman from Oromocto First Nation was later released and will appear in court at a later date.

The 34-year-old woman from Oromocto First Nation, the 38-year-old man from Geary and the 40-year-old man from Oromocto, were later released.

The public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police. The investigation is ongoing.
