A 51-year-old man has been sentenced in connection with a firearms incident in Basswood Ridge, N.B.
On April 24, 2022, members of the St. Stephen RCMP detachment responded to a report that a firearm had been discharged at two individuals near a residence in Basswood Ridge. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. No one was injured during the incident.
On April 26, 2022, police located and arrested a man in connection with the incident.
On April 27, 2022, Bryan Sheppard appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with discharging a firearm with intent.
In December 2024, a Court of King’s Bench Judge and Jury trial was held in Saint John N.B., and Bryan Sheppard was found guilty of discharging a firearm while being reckless as to the life or safety of another person.
On April 23, 2025, Bryan Sheppard was sentenced to two years and one month in a federal penitentiary, and a 10-year weapons prohibition.
