28-year-old man arrested following drug-trafficking investigation

The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested a 28-year-old man from Scarborough, Ontario, following a drug-trafficking investigation in Moncton, N.B.
On May 26, 2025, members of the New Brunswick RCMP's Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit, along with the Codiac Regional RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, and the Integrated Enforcement Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Garfield Street in Moncton, NB.
A 28-year-old man was arrested inside a vehicle in proximity to the residence. The search resulted in the seizure of a loaded handgun, armour piercing ammunition, approximately 1.7 kilograms of fentanyl, approximately 1.8 kilograms of methamphetamine, 180 grams of cocaine, and Canadian currency. A 54-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were also arrested without incident.
The 28-year-old man was remanded into custody, while the 54-year-old man, the 19-year-old man and 41-year-old woman, were later released.
On May 27, 2025, 28-year-old Kudzai Nyembe-Mafohla, from Scarborough, Ontario, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl (and analogues)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
- Possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized
- Careless use of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization
- Possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without licence/registration
He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on June 10, 2025, at 9: 30 a.m.
