Two charged following home invasion, assault with a weapon

Two individuals have been charged following a home invasion and an assault with a weapon in the community of Tobique First Nation, N.B.

On April 29, 2025, at approximately 4:34 a.m., members of Tobique RCMP Detachment responded to a report of a home invasion on Main Street in the community of Tobique First Nation. Two individuals forcibly entered a residence and assaulted a 48-year-old man and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The 48-year-old man suffered what were believed to be minor injuries, and did not require medical attention.

Early in the investigation, two individuals of interest were identified. Police were able to determine that this was an isolated incident, and that the individuals were known to each other.

At approximately 2 p.m. on the same day, both individuals were located in the community and arrested without incident.

On April 30, 2025, 29-year-old Brandon Francis appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court and was charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Robbery
  • Mischief
  • Uttering threats
  • Resisting or obstructing arrest
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

On April 30, 2025, 29-year-old Morgan Nicholas also appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court and was charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Robbery
  • Mischief

Both men were remanded into custody.

On May 1, Brandon Francis and Morgan Nicholas both appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court and were released from custody with an ankle monitoring device and a house curfew while awaiting their next court appearance. Later the same evening, Brandon Francis cut his ankle monitoring device, and a warrant has now been issued for his arrest for failing to comply with a release order.
