Bay Roberts RCMP investigates damages to highway speed camera, solar panels stolen

Bay Roberts RCMP is investigating damages to a solar powered speed camera stationed alongside the Veterans Memorial Highway – Route 75 – between the Bay Roberts exit and the Trans-Canada Highway. The RCMP Forensic Identification Section is assisting in the investigation, which was initiated on Saturday August 23, 2025.

Police believe that the suspect or suspects responsible for the damages, also took the solar panels attached to the apparatus, used to power the speed camera equipment.

Police are looking for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have travelled through the area, noted something or someone suspicious and has dash camera footage.
