Gander RCMP investigating fire near Cobb’s Pond, seeking public’s assistance

RCMP officers in Gander are investigating the cause of a fire on a trail near Cobb’s Pond on Sunday evening. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on August 10, 2025, Gander RCMP and Gander Fire Rescue responded to a report of a fire in the tree line on a trail next to Cobb’s Pond in Gander. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation. Anyone who has information about this fire is asked to contact Gander RCMP at 709-256-6841 as soon as possible.

RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador thanks the residents who called emergency services to report the fire, and who worked quickly to combat the fire whole waiting on first responders. RCMP also extends its gratitude to Gander Fire Rescue for its response.

A province-wide fire ban is currently in effect. Anyone who sees an active fire is asked to report it immediately to their local fire department. If you would like to report suspicious activity, please contact your local police as soon as possible to make a report.
