Glovertown RCMP investigating brush fire, seeking public’s assistance

RCMP officers in Glovertown are investigating the cause of a fire that was extinguished at the rear of a property on the north shore Wednesday afternoon. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., on August 13, 2025, Glovertown RCMP and Glovertown Fire Rescue responded to a report of a grass and brush fire behind a structure on Crewes Road. The fire was extinguished by fire crews, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Any residents with surveillance or dash camera footage recorded on Wednesday afternoon in the Crewes Road area or anyone with information about this fire is asked to contact Glovertown RCMP at 709-533-2828 as soon as possible.
RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador extends its gratitude to Glovertown Fire Rescue for its quick response and actions, which prevented the fire from spreading and causing further damage.
A province-wide fire ban is currently in effect.
Anyone who sees an active fire is asked to report it immediately to their local fire department. If you would like to report suspicious activity, please contact your local police as soon as possible to make a report.
Failure to comply with the provincial fire ban may result in substantial fines and/or criminal charges.
