After an evacuation order was lifted for Holyrood and Conception Bay South, RCMP NL is reminding all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to continue following the most up-to-date information from the provincial government.
Current wildfire and evacuation information is available on the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s website at https://www.gov.nl.ca/alerts/.
If you reside in an area that is under a current order, please remain safely outside of the evacuation zone and refrain from accessing by road or by trail. Firefighting efforts are ongoing and police, ground search and rescue volunteers and other first responders continue to work in these areas.
Unauthorized access is dangerous. Re-entering an evacuation zone before it is safe to do so puts you and others at risk, and can divert resources away from the fire suppression efforts.
Road blocks and other traffic control measures are in place. Please abide by all signage and ensure that you are keeping a safe distance from evacuation zones.
A reminder that the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has issued evacuation orders for:
- Town of Small Point–Adam’s Cove–Blackhead–Broad Cove
- Town of Western Bay
- Town of Salmon Cove
- Unincorporated area of Burnt Point-Gull Island-Northern Bay
- Unincorporated area of Kingston
- Unincorporated area of Perry’s Cove
- Unincorporated area of Ochre Pit Cove
An evacuation alert is also in place for the Town of Victoria.
During an active wildfire, the immediate priority for RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador is safety. That means ensuring adherence to all safety measures that are implemented by a state of emergency — including evacuation orders and road closures — and helping to protect and maintain public safety.
RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador thanks all residents for their ongoing cooperation during these wildfire evacuations.
