Bay St. George RCMP is looking to identify the occupant or occupants that fled from a stolen vehicle after crashing into a Stephenville Crossing shed early Sunday morning.
Just before 5:00 a.m. on August 31, 2025, Bay St. George RCMP responded to report of a vehicle stolen from the driveway of a private property in Stephenville Crossing. The complainant woke to noises outside their home and later discovered that their sport utility vehicle (SUV) had been taken.
A search of the Bennett Street area located fresh tire markings on the roadway, and recent damage to a guardrail at the top of an embankment. The stolen SUV was found down the embankment, resting on top of a completely destroyed garden shed. The vehicle was unoccupied and markings at the scene suggested that the suspect or suspects fled on foot.
RCMP West District Police Dog Services (PDS) was engaged and responded to the scene to assist with a search of the area.
The SUV was seized by police and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) is assisting with an examination of the vehicle for physical evidence.
