Grand Falls-Windor arrest man after early morning flight from police

A 40-year-old man was arrested by Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP this morning after taking off from an attempted traffic stop. William Morris now faces charges including flight from police and driving while prohibited.

On September 12, 2025 at approximately 3:30 a.m., an officer on patrol in the Goodyear Avenue area attempted a traffic stop of a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The driver failed to stop for police, and the vehicle was soon found parked outside of a nearby residence.

The driver, 40-year-old William Matthew Morris, was arrested and charged with:

  • Flight from police
  • Driving while prohibited (related to previous driving charges – see background link below)
  • Failure to comply with Release Order – 2 counts
  • Failure to comply with a Probation Order

He was held in custody to appear in provincial court.
