Holyrood RCMP arrested 38-year-old Matthew Scott and 42-year-old Felicia Pynn Tuesday morning after they were found in a stolen vehicle and a search resulted in the seizure of weapons, a variety of illicit drugs, break-in instruments, cash and stolen property. Both Scott and Pynn now face charges under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

On September 16, 2025, Holyrood RCMP responded to a call for service on the 600-block of Conception Bay Highway in Holyrood. A concerned citizen reported a suspicious vehicle with extensive front-end damage and two individuals believed to be asleep inside. Officers arrived on scene and discovered the sport utility vehicle had been reported to police as stolen.

Scott and Pynn were arrested by officers, and a search of the vehicle was conducted.

The search resulted in the seizure of:

  • a quantity of cocaine,

  • a quantity of hydromorphone,
  • a quantity of methylphenidate (commonly known as Ritalin),
  • a quantity of cannabis,
  • various quantities of illicit tablets,
  • various weapons and ammunition,
  • stolen property, including tools, cheques and bank cards,
  • cash, and
  • drug paraphernalia and other items consistent with drug trafficking.

Matthew Scott, 38, of Conception Bay South and 42-year-old Felicia Pynn of St. John’s have each been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000,
  • Resist or obstruct a peace officer,
  • Carry a prohibited weapon in a careless manner,

  • Possession of weapon contrary to order,
  • Possession of break-in instruments,
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance – Cocaine,
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance – Hydromophone.

Pynn has also been charged with failing to comply with a condition of a Probation Order, and Scott is facing an additional three counts for failing to comply with a Release Order.

They were both held in custody to appear before the courts.

The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are possible.

Earlier this year, RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador warned that cocaine is the leading cause of overdose deaths in Newfoundland and Labrador.  Naloxone is ineffective in combatting cocaine overdose. If you suspect someone is overdosing on cocaine, immediately seek medical attention.
