Eric Rich sentenced in second-degree murder

On Monday, 55-year-old Eric Rich of Natuashish was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 15 years for second-degree murder.

Rich was arrested by Sheshatshiu RCMP on September 1, 2021 after the murder of a 31-year-old woman in community. RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigated, and on December 14, 2024, Rich was convicted of second-degree murder.

On Monday, October 6, Rich appeared in court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, where Justice Stacy Ryan sentenced him to life in prison, with no possibility of parole for 15 years. He was also issued a lifetime firearm prohibition and a DNA order, which will result in his profile being stored in the National DNA Data Bank.
