Harbour Grace RCMP arrest man for thefts, breaching release order

Harbour Grace RCMP arrested a 40-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon after he breached the conditions of his Undertaking. Clouston Deering now faces charges of theft and failure to comply with his Undertaking.

On December 9, 2025, Harbour Grace RCMP responded to an unwanted person at a business on Columbus Drive in Carbonear. A store employee identified an individual who attempted, unsuccessfully, to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. The employee also provided a description of the suspect.

Police located the suspect in the Powell Drive-area a short time later, and 40-year-old Clouston Deering who was also the subject of additional theft-related investigations was arrested.

He is expected to appear in provincial court today (December 10) to face charges of:

  • Theft under $5,000 – 7 counts
  • Failure to comply with an Undertaking – 2 counts

 

The investigations are ongoing.
