Holyrood RCMP arrested a 22-year-old man for impaired operation early Thursday morning, after a concerned citizen called 9-1-1 to report a crash on the Conception Bay Highway.
Shortly before 1:45 a.m., on December 11, 2025, police responded to a report that a truck had crashed into a pole on the Conception Bay Highway, resulting in downed power lines. The 9-1-1 caller reported that the driver had exited the vehicle on foot, in the direction of a nearby residence.
Officers located the driver, a 22-year-old man, and observed signs of intoxication. A breath test was administered, and the results were more than 1.5 times the legal limit.
He was arrested for operation while impaired over 80mg% of motor vehicle, his licence was suspended and the truck was seized and impounded by police. He is expected to appear in provincial court in February 2026.
Impaired operation is a choice that puts you and everyone on the road at unnecessary and unacceptable risk. This holiday season, drive sober and have a plan to get home safely. If you suspect an impaired driver or see a driver who is an immediate threat to road safety, call 9-1-1.
