Deer Lake RCMP charged a 32-year-old St. Anthony man with impaired operation last night after a single vehicle crash near Wiltondale.
On December 18, 2025, at approximately 6:05 p.m., Deer Lake RCMP received a report of a vehicle that had left Route 430 in the Wiltondale area. Police responded and located a male driver at the scene, uninjured.
The driver showed signs of impairment and failed a roadside breath test. He was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the detachment where he provided additional breath samples more than twice the legal limit. His vehicle was seized and impounded.
The 32-year-old driver was later released from custody and is expected to appear in provincial court in February 2026 to answer to criminal charges of operation of a motor vehicle while impaired and operation of a motor vehicle while over 80 mg% of alcohol.
Impaired operation is a choice that puts you and everyone on the road at unnecessary and unacceptable risk. This holiday season, drive sober and have a plan to get home safely. If you suspect an impaired driver or see a driver who is an immediate threat to road safety, call 9-1-1.
