On December 22 around 3:00 p.m., Bay d’Espoir RCMP received a call from a concerned member of public about a car being driving in an erratic manner, headed southbound on Route 360. Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver — a 27-year-old woman — was discovered to be operating with an expired driver’s licence. In addition, the vehicle she was driving was not registered and did not have insurance. Summary offence tickets were issued under the Highway Traffic Act, and the vehicle was seized and impounded by police.

Bay d’Espoir RCMP thanks the caller who reported their concerns. Reporting dangerous and impaired driving makes our roads safer, and could help save lives.

This holiday season, officers will be on patrol across Newfoundland and Labrador looking for impaired drivers, checking for seatbelts and ensuring vehicles and drivers are operating safely and with the appropriate documentation. Motorists are reminded to drive safe, drive sober and ensure that your licence, registration and insurance are always up to date.
