Bay St. George RCMP arrests and charges man in connection to armed robbery

Bay St. George RCMP arrested and charged 42-year-old Robert Charles Park in relation to an armed robbery at a Stephenville gas station during the early morning hours of January 9, 2026.

Just before 2:00 a.m. on Friday, Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at a gas station on Main Street in Stephenville. A masked man, armed with a knife, entered the store, threatened the employee and demanded cigarettes and cash. He fled the scene with several packages of cigarettes and cash from the register.

An investigation at the scene identified Robert Charles Park, 42, as the suspect. Police Dog Services (PDS) was engaged in an attempt to track down Park, and a warrant for his arrest was obtained.

Officers later located and apprehended Park without incident at a Stephenville residence

Park was held in police custody to appear before the courts on multiple Criminal Code offences. He has been charged with:

  • Robbery with weapon,
  • Assault with a weapon,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Disguised with intent to commit an offence.
