Bonavista RCMP arrested and charged 49-year-old Irving Power for failing to comply with a release order after obtaining a warrant to enter his home on Saturday.

On January 10, just after 2:00 p.m., Bonavista RCMP officers attended the residence of 49-year-old Irving Power, who was ordered by the court to report to the detachment weekly starting in early December.

The man was convicted of break and enter in 2025, and had never made an appearance at the detachment, failing to comply four times with the conditions of his release.

Police attended the home and spoke with the suspect, but he refused to exit. After multiple attempts, police obtained the warrant required to enter the residence to complete the arrest. He was arrested without incident.

He is expected to appear in court today (Monday) to answer to five counts of failing to comply with a release order condition.

RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law, and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in the province.
