Whitbourne RCMP investigates fatal ATV crash near Fairhaven

A 39-year-old woman is deceased following an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) incident that occurred on January 20, 2026, on Route 203 near Fairhaven.
Just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Whitbourne RCMP received the report of an off-road vehicle incident involving two all-terrain vehicles. After a mechanical issue, an off-road vehicle operator was being towed by another ATV operator, when both off-road vehicles lost control and overturned. Both riders were ejected.
One ATV operator was uninjured, while the second operator – whose helmet came off during the accident - suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by emergency services personnel with NL Health Services. The injured ATV operator has since succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is engaged and the investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
