Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP investigate assault, man arrested and charged

A 34-year-old man was arrested by Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP last week in relation to an assault.

Just after 1:00 p.m. on January 23, 2026, police received a report of an assault in the community of Grand Falls-Windsor. The victim had been physically assaulted while in their vehicle, by a person known to them. The incident was isolated in nature with no risk to public safety.

An investigation led police to the residence of a suspect, who was arrested for assault. He was later released from police custody on strict conditions. He is expected to make his first appearance in provincial court in March 2026 to answer to a charge of assault.

The investigation continues.
