Clarenville RCMP stops off-road vehicle, tickets youth driver

Clarenville RCMP ticketed a 17-year-old driver yesterday for operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) without valid insurance or registration.
The youth was observed driving the ATV dangerously by RCMP officers patrolling Balbo Drive in Clarenville. A traffic stop was initiated, and police learned that the ATV did not have a valid registration or insurance.
The youth was issued two summary offence tickets under the Off-road Vehicles Act for operating an off-road vehicle without insurance and for operating an off-road vehicle without registration.
Anyone found operating off-road vehicles contrary to the Highway Traffic Act or Off-Road Vehicles Act may be charged, vehicles could be seized and, where applicable, parents/guardians can also be charged.
