Bay Roberts RCMP arrested a 24-year-old man for impaired driving after receiving a tip from a concerned member of the public early Saturday morning.

At approximately 3:05 a.m. on July 11, Bay Roberts RCMP received a report regarding a suspected impaired driver and located the described vehicle on L.T. Stick Drive. Police stopped the car and the driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old Shearstown man, failed a roadside breath test.

He was transported to the Bay Roberts RCMP detachment where further testing confirmed his impairment at over twice the legal limit. His vehicle was seized and impounded, and his driver’s licence was suspended.

He was released from custody and will appear in Harbour Grace Provincial Court in October 2026 to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation over 80 mg%.

Impaired operation of any motor vehicle is a choice that places the driver and others at an increased, unnecessary and unacceptable level of risk. If you suspect an individual is driving while impaired, please immediately call 911 to make a report.
