Gander RCMP arrested a 54-year-old man on Thursday night, after a curfew check confirmed he was in violation of his court-imposed release conditions.

Around 10:50 p.m. on July 16, an officer attended a home in Glenwood to speak with the resident. The man was required to be inside his home during set hours, as part of a previous release order issued by the courts.

Kirk Hunt, 54, failed to present himself at the door as required. A short time later, the officer observed him returning to the residence by car, and he was arrested without incident and charged with failure to comply with a condition of a release order.

Hunt was held in custody overnight and is expected to appear in court today.

Ensuring compliance with court-imposed conditions is a key part of reducing repeat crime and enhancing public safety. Continued monitoring and follow‑up checks also allow police to intervene quickly when conditions are breached, while recognizing and supporting those who are complying.
