RCMP West District General Investigation Section (GIS) and Bay St. George RCMP arrested a 34-year-old wanted man following a foot chase in Stephenville Friday afternoon.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. on July 24, RCMP West District (GIS) and Bay St. George RCMP officers stopped a vehicle on St. Claire Avenue in Stephenville. A passenger exited the vehicle and fled from police on foot.
Officers engaged in a foot pursuit, and Michael Kane, 34, was taken into police custody without incident nearby. Kane was identified by police as wanted on an outstanding unendorsed warrant for his arrest.
He was held in custody to appear in provincial court over the weekend, and faces new charges including failure to comply with the conditions of his release order. He is expected to make his next court appearance in August 2026.
The investigation is ongoing.
