Meteghan RCMP Detachment is investigating online threats and intimidation and seeking supporting information from the public.

On December 15, 2025, Meteghan RCMP received a report of a social media post that included intimidating comments directed to people cooperating with ongoing investigations. The comments were posted on December 13, 2025, on a Facebook account.

On December 18, investigators safely arrested Joel Gaudet, 35, of Church Point, at a residence in Church Point. He is charged with Intimidation of a Justice System Participant and had a first court appearance on December 18 at Digby Provincial Court. He remains in custody pending future court appearances.

Meteghan RCMP are continuing the investigation and seeking further information from the public. Investigators want to hear from anyone else who believes they received threats or intimidating comments, written or in other forms of communication, from Gaudet on or after December 3, 2025. Officers also want to speak with anyone who has information that can link Gaudet or anyone else to the Facebook account that was used to publish intimidating comments on December 13.

The definition of justice system participants includes any person who plays a role in the administration of criminal justice. It is not limited to people employed by the courts or peace officers, and includes witnesses or prospective witnesses.

Anyone with information that may support this investigation is asked to contact Meteghan RCMP Detachment at 902-645-2326. To remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or use the P3 Tips app.
