The RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section (GIS) has charged a man in connection with a shooting in Westphal.

On January 29, at approximately 5:45 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, including members of its Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Community Action Response Team, responded to a report of a shooting in a parking lot in the 700 block of Hwy. 7.

Officers learned that a man was sitting in a parked Buick Envista when a BMW X3 pulled into the parking lot. The driver exited the BMW and fired shots into the Buick before fleeing. The BMW was later located abandoned in North Preston.  The victim, a 19-year-old man from Dartmouth, was not injured.

On February 12, the RCMP/HRP Integrated GIS, with assistance from the RCMP and HRP Emergency Response Teams and the RCMP Critical Incident Program, arrested a man in the 5800 block of Macara St. and executed a search warrant at a residence.

Martino Maurice Williams, 21, of Halifax, has been charged with Attempted Murder and Discharging a Firearm with Intent.  He appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on February 13 and remains in custody pending future court appearances.

The firearm involved in the shooting hasn’t been located.  The investigation is ongoing.
