Lunenburg District RCMP charge two men for weapons and property offences.

On February 12, Lunenburg District RCMP officers were investigating a report of an abandoned vehicle on Mill Lake Rd. in Hubbards. Officers determined that the vehicle, a grey Honda Civic, had been reported stolen. While officers were on scene, a second vehicle approached. Two men fled the vehicle, a black Hyundai Elantra, on foot upon observing the officers.

Officers safely arrested one of the men immediately. Additional officers, including RCMP Police Dog Services and Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) operators, attended to support the search for the second man. He was located approximately one hour later and safely arrested near Hwy. 103 around exit 6.

Officers determined the Hyundai Elantra had also been reported stolen. During a subsequent search of the Elantra, investigators located and seized a firearm inside the car. The firearm was also found to have been reported stolen.

Malik Antonio Robinson, 25, of North York, Ontario, and Abdiqafar Ahmed Ali, 20, of Coquitlam, British Columbia, each had a first court appearance on February 17 at Bridgewater Provincial Court. They are both charged with multiple offences including Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Obstruction, and multiple weapons offences. They remain in custody pending future court appearances.

Investigators are in contact with the owners of the stolen vehicles in order to arrange a resolution to these thefts.
