Digby RCMP charges man for historical sexual offences; believes there may be more victims

Digby RCMP has charged a man with multiple offences in relation to historical sexual assaults.
In March, RCMP officers began an investigation after receiving a report of sexual assaults committed between 1975 and 1991.
As the investigation progressed, additional victims were identified. To date, three people, who are now adults, have reported being sexually assaulted by a man known to them.
On July 16, 65-year-old Benjamin Mark Seeley of Kentville was arrested and charged with:
- Sexual Exploitation of a Young Person
- Indecent Assault (three counts)
- Act of Gross Indecency (two counts)
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference
- Invitation to Sexual Touching
Seeley was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Digby Provincial Court on September 21.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims who’ve not yet come forward.
There’s no time limit on reporting sexual offences to police. The Nova Scotia RCMP recognizes the lasting impact these crimes can have on victims, regardless of how much time has passed. Support services are available, including through RCMP Victim Services.
The investigation, supported by the Nova Scotia RCMP’s Interview Assistance Team, is ongoing.
