RCMP officers have seized two shipments of illegal cannabis products with an estimated street value of more than $113,000.
On July 24, RCMP officers began an investigation into a shipment of several boxes of suspected illegal cannabis originating from an address in Ontario.
On July 31, RCMP officers received a report of a second shipment of suspected illegal cannabis products also originating from Ontario.
Both shipments were confirmed to be illegal cannabis products with an estimated street value of more than $113,000 and were seized.
“As part of their operating procedures, courier companies report any packages they identify as containing illegal goods to law enforcement,” says Cpl. Gary McLaughlin, Northeast Traffic Services – Cape Breton. “This is instrumental in helping police intercept shipments of illegal goods.”
The investigations remain ongoing. No charges have been laid at this time.
